The
Client |
|
Pekin
Country Club;
located in Pekin, Illinois, is an upscale, golf, tennis and swimming
facility. This building contains several thousand square feet of
banquet facility and incorporates the use of several air handling
units and perimeter heating, for environmental comfort. In addition,
the existing boiler had provided all of the facilities domestic hot
water. |
|
The Problem |
-
An aged Kewanee
fire-box boiler that had been condemned, to a massive failure in the
near future
-
Recurring boiler tube
and furnace failures
-
The new system must provide system heat
and domestic hot water
-
The system must be easy to maintain,
with a self contained automation system
|
|
The
Pekin
Country Club's, hot water heating
system requirements were fulfilled by one Kewanee, fire-tube boiler.
This building has typical seasonal and domestic water load variations which
range from 50 H.P. in the cold of the winter, to as low as 10 H.P. in the
heat of the summer.
Boiler stress as a result of on-off cycling and age, has caused recurring
tube and tube-sheet failures.
A respected boiler structural repair
company had predicted that the boilers life expectancy, was a down to only a
few weeks. |
|
Summary :
Extremely wide seasonal load swings, multiple boiler waterside vessel
failures with a catastrophic failure due at any time, no automation for
system control or operational efficiency. |
